XMD Design Console
XMD Design Console contains the tools
used to design, build, integrate and deploy the XMD system. The XMD design
console enables non-IT professionals to easily and rapidly design and
deploy the XMD system – without the complexity of traditional IT
development projects.
Its components include: Authoring, a forms building
package; Security, through which system privileges are controlled; and
Router, a software module used to control the direction and completion
of business processes.
Authoring
|
Authoring is a rapid development
product that managers, engineers or procedure writers use to create
form templates and implement business process rules. PenFact designed
Authoring for simplicity of use. Authoring is a rapid deployment product
that can be used quickly, and easily, by any one reasonably familiar
with computers – no highly trained IT professionals needed.

Security
|
The Security module lets management set user
profiles and define workgroups, security levels and permissions to
control the XMD system. It provides tremendous flexibility to enable
sharing of devices, while ensuring that data is seen only by those
who should. |
Router
|
Router is a powerful activity workflow routing
application that tracks work in process (WIP) through operations such
as manufacturing production. Router tracks WIP using flexible links
and decision trees to circulate your products through the manufacturing
process as needed in light of what happened to them before, such as
the results of inspections or the results of rework signoffs. Complicated
procedures and processes, such as manufacturing rework loops or off-line
processes, are simple to implement. WIP always reaches its destination,
regardless of the route it takes. The decision process is readily
extendable, very powerful, and yet very simple. Router gives mobile
workers, XMD system managers and management visibility into current
activities and workflow. The visibility enables them to make real
time or process-based decisions to route work activities based on
activities, exceptions, or process demands. Router can be used to
predefine the routes of both WIP and data within the XMD system. |
